CATS ON TUESDAY

Pookie shows the first signs of becoming an old lady physically and in her behavior too.  She will be 16 this year and she can't jump anymore.

She lifts herself with the help of the claws in her front paws on the sofa

and fortunately still manages to climb in Mr. G's bed. When she walks she looks normal, but no way to jump on a chair or on the sink in the kitchen what she loved to do to drink water. She only tolerates Kim close to her and has started to hiss at Arthur which she had never done before, and of course Rosie. She also meows a lot and has become a very talkative cat ! She "speaks" all the time. And as so many old ladies do, she eats a lot but has lost weight. She isn't skinny, but not the round cozy cat anymore. According to the vet she is in good health and there is nothing to do with her hind legs. It's arthrosis.

Rosie as all cats don't know what pity is and is rather happy about this situation, she has my bed all of her own it is too high, and as you can see from her look, she has seen Pookie enter the room !

Arthur the philosophe doesn't care, he sleeps where he wants and doesn't bother about Pookie when she hisses at him.

He has a lot to do to keep his fur white, outside it's quite muddy !

As usual he terrorizes Mr. G. and yesterday when he was laying in the bath, Arthur managed to open the door wide, letting in cold air which made Mr. G. shout at me to close the door again. This happened 3 times, because Arthur doesn't want to stay long in the bathroom and meauws and scratches at the door to get out. I open the door and then the whole story starts from the beginning !

If only the rainy days would stop so that he could use his energy outside and I could stop being his doorman !

Pookie you are still a spring chicken, my Charlotte will be 19 on Saturday. But you are both getting talkative in your old age and possibly like most oldies you are repeating everything you say many times over.
Rosie, be nice to Pookie you will be old one day too.

A lot of kitties seem to get more talkative when they get older... maybe they have more to say!

Arthur must be working overtime to keep his furs clean. Thank goodness Pookie can still get onto the sofa and Mr G's bed so she has something comfy to snooze on.

Sad for Pookie not being able to jump anymore. I am sad to hear this.

Maybe some little stairs would help?

I think I just put my link in the blog hop while looking for comments. I hope that's ok! I'm not sure, though. - Crepes.

Poor little Pookie. It's good that she can still climb onto the sofa and on Mr G's bed. :)
We hope you get sunny days soon!

Aw, well she can still get where she wants with claws. My Star who is 14 is that way. Unless I remember to give her coconut oil every day, then she seems to jump better. What's funny is she can jump a span of almost four feet from couch to bed but can't jump up to the bed from the floor. Luckily there's a bench that cuts the height in half!

I purchased some inexpensive step stools for my Himalayan to help her get to her favorite spots. She lived to be 20 years old.

Maybe you can get some pet stairs for Pookie, so that she can still enjoy the faucet and couch?

Arthur, you do the same thing as Moosey -- he always lets cold air in the bathroom, too, by opening the door wide! :)

LOL about Arthur and Mr. G.!

Sweet Pookie. I'm glad she's healthy. It's so true about no pity from the other kitties.

I am glad the vet said Pookie is OK because when my dogs and cats are "talkative" they are either in pain or uncomfortable (also hungry).

But they all looked good and adorable as always so no worries!

it is so sad when they stop being able to jump… we put "step stools" around the house for Alex when he had issues...
